Creating an Exciting Booth Experience for Wooting at Gamescom 2025
Gamescom Cologne from the 20th to the 24th of August 2025 reconfirmed itself as the world’s largest event for computer and video games. Whimsical Exhibits were proud to partner with Wooting to design and build a 20 sqm branded exhibition booth, reflective of the brand’s innovative character while paying tribute to their focus on gaming.
Design Strategy
At Whimsical Exhibits, we recognized that Wooting needed to provide a gaming experience that could evoke a response from Gamescom 2025 attendees. With a footprint of only 20 sqm, our design team targeted an exhibit design that balanced effective compactness with strong branding and visibility. The goal was to give every visitor an immersive first impression that immediately connected with Wooting’s identity as an innovator in gaming hardware.
We also prioritised functionality and visitor flow. The layout of the exhibit featured demo areas for gamers to interact and try Wooting’s keyboards, as well as open interaction areas for discussion and networking. The intelligent lighting design provided product focus, while subtle digital design features added a modern, tech-savvy flare.
Challenges & Execution
Designing a 20 sqm booth for a huge show like Gamescom has its challenges. There is not much room to showcase product demonstrations, showcase products, and let visitors interact with the space all while having the space stand out from hundreds of larger and flashier background booths, aside from managing a high volume of foot traffic without congestion.
Thus, we designed a space that felt open and functional with the demo stations and conversation areas. Bold graphics, intentional lighting and smart planning gave the sense of an inviting yet impactful booth despite the surroundings. Through effective planning and execution on-site, Wooting’s overall brand presence was successful!
Outcome
Wooting’s booth quickly turned into a destination for gamers who wanted the opportunity to physically demo the keyboards as an experience. The open layout, and demo-first model of the booth created lots of excitement, as people gathered around the booth demo stations, and lingered even longer than intended. The booth footprint was modestly sized at 20 sqm, but the booth encapsulated the liveliness and excitement Gamescom is known for, and Wooting left with significantly better brand visibility, as well as a bunch of meaningful connections in their business space.
